Foxfire Mountain House Wedding

Mount Tremper, NY for Jessi & Russ

Jessi & Russ chose Foxfire Mountain House in Mount Tremper, NY for their ceremony and reception and I was excited to be there for both! I am originally from Woodstock, NY which is just 10 minutes away so it was nice to be in the area but I was more thrilled to celebrate and DJ in the beautiful Catskills.

It is a beautiful venue with outdoor and indoor space. They are famous for their gorgeous tiled dance floor in their outdoor tent. So let's get into the details of this Foxfire Mountain House Wedding.

Jessi & Russ chose to have their reception outside on a grassy hill. I had mellow indie songs playing as their guests were seated. Jessi walked in alongside her dad to "Starálfur" by Sigur Rós, a great song. Their officiant was one of their friends and I gave him special attention to make sure he felt comfortable. He did a great job. One of their guests did a reading during the ceremony and I had a live mic waiting for her on her chair. Jessi and Russ walked out to "Everyone" by Van Morrison. Beautiful ceremony.

After the ceremony there was a live guitarist at cocktail hour. I headed over to the tent and waited for the next part of this Foxfire Mountain House Wedding. One of the couple's friends announced them into dinner to the sounds of "Toto" by Africa. This song got requested at almost every wedding I DJed this past year. There were a few toasts while their guests listened to a custom playlist of jazz standards we curated together.

As dinner came to an end they did their first dance to "California Stars" by Wilco and the parents dances to "Imagine" by John Lennon and "Red Red Wine" by UB40. That was when the dance set started. They asked for a mix of funky throwbacks like James Brown and Motown and more current pop and indie artists like Drake, Bruno Mars and Robyn. Their choices were a big hit and their guests danced the whole time.

I was referred this wedding by Russell and Brad whose Catskills wedding I DJed the year before. They were guests at this wedding and I had so much fun at theirs so it was great to catch up with them. Thank you Russell and Brad!

And I would like to thank Jessi and Russ for allowing me to be part of their amazing Foxfire Mountain House Wedding.

Where to start: if you are throwing a party, you need Ben to bring the tunes! We had the pleasure of being both guests at a friend’s wedding and his clients. Trust me when I say both events were as fun as it gets! He brought our wedding vision to life.
