Maritime Parc Wedding
Jersey City, NJ for Tiffany and Mark
When I first spoke to Mark 6 months or more before his wedding he asked me what I would do if there was a snowstorm. My response was, leave very early, but there wasn't much chance of that happening, even though the wedding was in January. Well guess what? Fast forward to a few days before the wedding and every weather station was predicting a snowstorm for the night of their wedding!
Tiffany and Mark chose Maritime Parc as their venue. It's in Jersey City right by the water so you get beautiful views of downtown Manhattan. At night, it's really something. They were in the third floor in a medium sized room with a wood-beamed ceiling. Let me tell you all about this beautiful Maritime Parc wedding.
They had their ceremony offsite so I was all set up and ready to start this Maritime Parc Wedding at 5:00 pm for cocktail hour. They had provided me with favorite genres, artists and a list of songs with only a few must-plays and do-not-plays. At cocktail hour I improvised with a mix of classic rock, Motown and pop from some of the artists they love.
When cocktail hour ended I introduced the wedding party and the couple to "Forever" by Chris Brown. Tiffany and Mark chose an acoustic version of Latch by Sam Smith / Disclosure for their first dance. Then Tiffany danced with her dad to "My Girl" by The Temptations. Mark and his mom finished the special dances with "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins.
We did a short dance set before the first course and another before the main course. I played a mix of 80's hits, oldies and pop songs that they had requested and improvised with a few songs in the same genres that I knew would get the crowd going.
For dinner, I continued with the cocktail hour vibe, but mixed in some crooners/jazz standards per their request. I could see guests bobbing their heads at cocktail hour and dancing in their seats at dinner. During the main course there were two toasts: first the best man and then the matron of honor.
After dinner we opened up the dance floor and had a nice two hour dance set. The energy kept building and as we got into pop, edm and hip-hop in the last hour, everyone was going crazy. Tiffany and Mark chose to end the night with New York, New York by Frank Sinatra and we had a gorgeous view of the city.
And guess what else? The snow never came! It was a great (and dry) night. Thank you Tiffany and Mark for letting me be a part of it! It was an amazing Maritime Parc wedding. Best of luck to you!
