Housing Works is a cute wedding venue in the trendy SoHo neighborhood in downtown Manhattan. It doubles as a used bookstore during the day. The cost to have a wedding there is $200 per person. Housing Works is a nonprofit organization whose proceeds go to HIV/AIDS and homelessness.

The room is somewhat narrow and long but has a catwalk which goes around half the room. DJs are prompted to put their speaker up on the catwalk so the sound comes from above. And the checkout counter doubles as a DJ booth. It's quirky, cool and very New York.

Monica and Jordan had their ceremony in the front area of Housing Works. They used a Unity Candle and had three readings. Their processional songs were "New Start" from the Aftermath soundtrack by Martin Phipps, and Alison Kraus' "Down to the River to Pray." Their recessional song was "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder.

Monica and Jordan did not have a cocktail hour. After the ceremony they took some quick photos with family before dinner began. Guests took five or ten minutes to make their way from the ceremony to the tables in the back of the room

After dinner, Monica and Jordan were formally introduced to Frank Sinatra‘s "How are Ya Fixed for Love." They followed that up by doing their first dance to "No Hard Feelings" by the Avett Brothers. Monica danced with her dad to Paul Anka's "Times of Your Life." And Jordan danced with his mom to "Mamas Don’t Let Your Boys Grow Up to be Cowboys." by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.

They had a great dance set with an interesting playlist. They chose 80's music, music from Guardians of the Galaxy, throwback hip-hop and pop. They also were huge fans of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel so I played several songs from the soundtrack. Their guests stayed on the dance floor until the very end.

Thank You Jordan and Monica for letting me DJ your

Housing Works Wedding!
